A method and a system for generating auxiliary power in an oil palm mill, where exit steam (50) from a sterilizer (30a, 30b, 30c, 30d) is supplied to a secondary steam turbine (T2) to produce the auxiliary power. Steam (40) flows freely into the sterilizer, flows freely within the sterilizer, and flows freely out of the sterilizer to power the secondary steam turbine (T2).
