A floating assembly for generating solar power comprising a floating gas-filled flexible element, with an upper wall part, a lower wall part and a surrounding wall part connecting corresponding outer edges of the upper and lower wall parts. One or more solar panels rest on top of the upper wall part and mooring lines extend between the flexible element and one or more fixed mooring points. The flexible element, at its surrounding wall part, is provided with a skirt which extends substantially downwards from the surrounding wall part and is adapted for preventing wind from entering below the flexible element.
