A hydrometallurgical method for recovering nickel, cobalt and copper from a feed comprising copper-containing sulphide concentrate and nickel laterite ore comprises the steps of: (1) pressure leaching the feed with oxygen introduction to generate sulphuric acid and obtain an acid leach slurry comprising a liquid phase comprising nickel, cobalt, copper and impurities; (2) neutralizing the acid leach slurry and separating the liquid phase by counter- current decantation to obtain a pregnant leach solution (PLS); (3) subjecting the (PSL) to a first solution purification to remove impurities to obtain first purified solution; (4) subjecting the first purified solution to solvent extraction to obtain copper-loaded organic phase and raffinate; (5) stripping copper from the copper-loaded organic phase and recovering copper by electrowinning; (6) subjecting the raffinate to second solution purification to remove remaining impurities and obtain second purified solution from which nickel and cobalt are recovered as mixed hydroxides or sulphides.
